விருந்து செய்தால் செல்வம் குன்றுமா? என்று கேள்வி வருகிறது. கடந்த குறளிலே விருந்தை தினந்தோறும் செய்பவர்களின் வீட்டிலே வறுமை வராது என்று கூறினார். இந்தக் குறளிலே முகமலர்ச்சியோடு விருந்தினரைப் பேணி விருந்து செய்யும் போதுத் திருமகளே அவர்களது வீட்டிற்கு வருகிறாள் என்று வள்ளுவர் கூறுகிறார்.

செல்வம் திருமகளுடையது. அந்தத் திருமகள் நமது வீட்டிலே மனமகிழ்ந்து அமருவதற்குக் காரணம் என்னவென்றால் அவள் தருகின்ற செல்வத்தை இல்லறத்தான் தகுதி உள்ள விருந்தினரை உபசரிப்பதன் மூலம் நல்வழியில் பயன்படுத்துகிறான்.
தகுதி என்பதற்கு ஞான ஒழுக்கங்களால் உயர்தல் என்று பரிமேலழகர் பொருள் கூறுகிறார். இங்கே ஞானம் என்பது அறிவு. அறிவு இருக்கும் இடத்தில் ஒழுக்கம் இருக்கும். அப்படி ஒழுக்கம் இல்லாதவரிடத்தில் அறிவு இருந்தால் அது அறிவே அல்ல. இதுவே தமிழரின் நம்பிக்கை.
இக்குறளின் மூலமாக பரிமேலழகர் என்ன கூறுகிறார் என்றால், ஞான ஒழுக்கங்களிலே நிலைத்திருப்பவர்களுக்குத் தான் விருந்து செய்ய வேண்டும். இப்படிச் செய்தால் திருமகள் மனமகிழ்ந்து வீட்டிலேயே நிலைத்திருப்பாள். அதனால் செல்வம் கொழித்துக்கொண்டேயிருக்கும்.
கடந்த குறளிலே விருந்து செய்தால் செல்வம் மேன்மேலும் வளரும் என்று கூறினார். இக்குறளிலே அந்தச் செல்வம் வளருவதற்கான காரணத்தைக் கூறுகிறார்.
